Hey Professor, I missed you at Red Power this year. I was hoping to make our political discussion an annual event! I guess it was too darn hot at the show this year to talk that much anyway. Maybe I'll see you next year in Ohio. They say there are at least two buildings at the show grounds that are air conditioned. After all the goings on this year I need somebody to complain to! The wife just doesn't listen anymore... |

Thanks Paul. That will save me from going over to look at mine, I have the narrow rims. Makes sense that the axle stubs would be longer and larger to accommodate the extra weight. |

Jim, Tim The front spindle is the same for the either the hub with lugs, or the 12" disc like on the 154 Tim posted. The spindle is 1", same as the later wide frame Cub Cadets, but the axle part of the spindle is longer (3-5/16") than the axle part of the Cub Cadet spindles. I used a wide frame CC front axle and spindles, and 154 front wheels on my 100 Hi-Clear, and TimmyD modified the spindles with longer, and repositioned axles, to fit the wheels. The hub w/lugs was used with 10" wheels and 20 X 8.00-10 turf tires. (Message edited by pbell on October 30, 2005) How did Noah keep from swatting those two mosquitos ????? |

Tim: I hadn't noticed that before, I don't know what style mine has on it either. I wonder if the hub for the bolt on wheel will fit a Cub Cadet?? |

Jim C, Yep that's the one, Dwight Boyd in Sebring owns it and did the work. He has the new decals on since your pic was taken. BTW, the front wheels have the same mounting as the Cub Cadet, but another one he has the lugs in the hub.If I looked it up right, s# 1001-17200 had the same mounting as the Cub Cadet, but the other one has a lower S# than this one,and has the lug mounting. |

CA.1906 BLACK MOTOR BUGGY The Black Manufacturing Co. of Chicago produced highwheelers under the name of Chicago Motor Buggy from about 1906 until 1909. Thought by some to be a transitional vehicle from the horse-drawn buggy, the highwheeler actually originated in the Chicago area in response to the need for a motor vehicle with road clearance suitable for deeply rutted out-of-town roads. Most highwheelers appeared on the scene about 1906. Specifications: Type 12 or 112 runabout; engine two-cylinder, horizontally opposed, air-cooled; bore 4-1/8 in., stroke 3-3/4 in., displacement 100.2 cu. in., 12 hp. Price new about $400.

I'm with Lyle on this one. The wheel bearing nut is recessed and you can't get at it with a regular wrench. |

hey all! Pretty good day today! Not really any Cub time, but I did put in some work on the little barn at the farm fixing the roof was the goal for today a, well...half done repair somebody did many, many years ago, and damage from a windstorm about five years ago had done a number on one corner of the back roof , this was definitely a should have done it last year project. We ended up replacing a 10 X 8 foot chunk of steel roofing and most of the stringers under it , yeah, plenty of spongy, rotten wood. The rafters were ok, except for one that Pop and I sistered a section of lumber in with, should be plenty strong for the foreseeable future. All the new stringers are 5/4 pressure treated deck boards now under the new steel panels , that's the good news , the bad news is, Not having a solid roof has caused some pretty severe damage to the cap rail on the back wall...it failed the chisel test bigtime.. ( I didn't have a screwdriver) So I'm going to have to brace it up a bit to protect it from snow load until next spring, then I can lift the roof off the back wall enough with a couple big jacks to fix the problem , oddly enough, the sheathing is perfect, the studs behind are trashed. And the whole thing should(I hope) be painted by Ohio PD next fall. More pictures will come soon, my registry web site

you guys are just to smart.the plier looking thing is a bull lead.it had a rope in an eye in the 1 handle.you put it in the cows(bull) nostrils and clamped and wedged the rope in that thing on the other handle to secure it.that darn cow would follow you any were then.the other is a nose ring.it is hindged on one side and has a set screw in the other.where the set screw is it has 2 sharp points.this was placed between the nostrils and left in .then you just snapped your lead rope on and bossie would follow you also Horse around with Safety, and you may be put out to pasture early............ engledl@pennswoods.net............. Jim C.: Sorry Denny never posted the name. It was a 1906 Chicago Motor Car. It was also called a Black? I did a search and All I could find was a reference to Chicago Motor Supply Co an an unknown paper from 1926 that had Chicago Motor Co. I found it curious that Cyrus McCormick was working on the info from Paul Bell. I was trying to make a connection. Jim C. you should find this interesting as I was searching this I came up with the Duryea which was first manufactured in Reading, PA my home town but they moved to Springfield, MA and were the First Race winner. Denny might be able to add more as I have CRS. WM DeTurck . For Information on Plow Day 2006 in PA or Event Schedule click here.
